Threads of the War collects and shares personal narratives during real events across the span of the 20th century's war. From the seats of a German cinema in 1915 and high over Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, to under the water of the port of Alexandria, Egypt, and on a rail line in East Prussia in 1945, the listener is carried from one front of war to another in short, easily listenable yet emotionally compelling bursts. Each story in this collection opens the door to a unique personal facet of war, exposing the listener to the facts, fictions, and fallacies of armed violence. Following each story the listener is provided specific and revealing facts about the events narrated, offering both entertainment and education within the time it takes to read a blog post.

This is a fantastic set of books. They consist of short essays from the point of view of people involved or affected by the various wars. In addition, there are additional pages that have not only links to additional background documents regarding the various essays. The additional documents could be maps, photos or official documents.I highly recommend the four volumes of Threads of the war. I acquired the first volume free from Amazon. I received the last three volumes complimentary ebook with no obligation. I am writing this honest review on my own.

Threads of the War Personal Truth Inspired FlashFiction of the 20th Century War (Audible Audio Edition) Jeremy Strozer John Pirhalla The Good Enough Empire Books Reviews
Great collection of flash fiction stories. In a few words, author was able to illustrate riveting scenes. Good read.
Very good book was surprised how must I liked this book.
Who would have thought that writing about true incidents of war and telling them with imagined details could be such a convincing ploy against war! War in the abstract is grand and heroic. Up close and personal it's terrifying, as it should be. Kudos to you, Jeremy, for humanizing history and getting to the heart of war and showing us the sad, destructive evil that it is. Thank you!
superficial vignettes of events any World War II buffs would already know as much, or at least almost as much, about.
This book gives an account of one's experiences during the war you don't read about in the nonfiction accounts of the war. Definitely gives one a different conception of the war both serious and humorous. I am looking forward to start reading the next book in this series.
A must read for war enthusiasts
I surprisingly loved this. This book is a series of short stories (VERY SHORT) based on actual events that happened during WWI and WWII but that Strozer made his own. Each of the stories are told in first person and are based on events that are not typically focused on in history books. In fact, many of the stories seemed to be based on smaller news headlines, which made this a very refreshing and unique read.
A unique and gripping look at different war incidents from the perspective of ordinary people living through the turmoil. Based on fact, but told as fiction by the people living through the war incidents. About real people and what it probably must have been like for them to experience the war. An easy way to learn more about the history of war. Far from boring and very interesting. I can not wait to read the other books in the series.
